General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT) is a Confederation of 17 National Federations dedicated to the rights, welfare and dignity of the workers as a whole. It covers different industrial & service sectors: manufacturing and general; textile--garments and jute; transportation; carpet; hotel-restaurant-catering; trekking-travel and rafting; tea plantation; printing press; auto-mechanics; construction; garbage cleaning; food and beverage; chemical-iron and allied industries; rickshaw-pulling, agriculture, street vendor and private & boarding schools.

GEFONT is an independent trade union movement having no affiliation with any intl trade union centres. "Socialism for dignified working class & prosperous life" is vision statement of GEFONT.

GEFONT has the following missions:

• To build awareness in working class on rights and responsibilities
• To strengthen unified pro worker trade unionism
• To eliminate feudal production relations
• To be active for international solidarity of working classes against capitalist globalisation
• To strengthen the role of the working class in social movement
• To assist the establishment of people's pluralistic democratic political system
